  12. While you are new to Windows,
  13. select and experiment with the
  14. icons provided.  Some will not be
  15. useful to you, but others offer
  16. delightful utilities.  Some, like
  17. SETUP and CONTROL PANEL offer
  18. custom configuration for the
  19. Windows program itself.  With
  20. these you can control the color
  21. of window backgrounds and text,
  22. the size and type of fonts, and
  23. the video mode you want to use.
  24.     Included with Windows is a
  25. word processing program, a text
  26. file viewer, a drawing program, a
  27. modem communications package, and
  28. several smaller tools including a
  29. calendar, clock, rolodex, a couple
  30. of video games and a calculator.
  31.    You could accomplish quite a
  32. bit just with Windows without ever
  33. using any other software!

  41. look at the icon which looks like a
  42. yellow filing cabinet.

  47.    This is the Windows File Manager.
  48. When selected, disk drive icons
  49. appear at the top.  Select one.
  50. A list of directories will appear on
  51. the left, and files on the right.
  52. To see the contents of a directory,
  53. click on the corresponding file
  54. folder icon.  To select a file,
  55. click on it.  To select several,
  56. hold the shift or control keys while
  57. clicking on additional files. To
  58. copy, move or delete files, select
  59. from the File menu.  You can also
  60. click on a drive icon again, create
  61. a second window, and drag a file
  62. icon from one window to another to
  63. move the actual file.  To copy
  64. files, press the [Ctrl] key while
  65. dragging.
